The Council of Europe will host the high-level conference “United around gender equality: making space for women and girls” in Strasbourg on May 30, 2024.
This event coincides with the 10th anniversary of the Istanbul Convention—the Council of Europe Convention on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence. It aims to reaffirm the Council’s commitment to advancing gender equality and launch new initiatives under the Council of Europe Gender Equality Strategy 2024-2029.
The conference will be opened by Justina Jakštienė, Vice-Minister of Social Security and Labour of the Republic of Lithuania, and Marija Pejčinović Burić, Secretary General of the Council of Europe. It will feature prominent figures including the internationally renowned feminist campaigner, Caroline Criado Perez, author of “Invisible Women: Exposing Data Bias in a World Designed for Men”.
