ENWE to join ONA VE’s event in Slovenia on women’s visibility in the public sphere

ENWE – European Network of Women Excellence will take part in Visibile and Heard: When Voices Become Change, a two-day event organised by ONA VE – one of the European databases in the ENWE network – on 5–6 December 2025 at EU House in Ljubljana, dedicated to gender representation in the media and the visibility of women experts in public life.

In a context where recent data show that women remain significantly underrepresented in news and public debates, the event brings together media professionals, researchers, policymakers, civil society organisations and EU representatives to explore how to ensure that women’s voices are not only present but also heard.

ENWE will contribute with a good practice presentation by Luisella Seveso and will join the roundtable “From Data to Change – How to Improve the Visibility of Women Experts in the Public Sphere”, sharing insights on how networks, media partnerships and data-driven approaches can support more balanced public discourse.

Below is the full programme.

Saturday, 6 December 2025

9:00–10:30 Workshop: Say It Differently – Simple Inclusive Language Tips (Jasna Mikić Ljubi)
Words have power – they can include or exclude. In this interactive workshop, we will explore how language can create more gender-inclusive environments. We will look at language in media, job adverts and everyday conversations, and discover how words can become tools for respect, equality and belonging.

9:00–10:30 Workshop (in English): EU Calls – From Idea to Application (hands-on) (Željka Markulin, CERV National Contact Point Croatia, Philippe Ternes, CERV National Contact Point Luxembourg, Katja Mijajlovič and Nena Bibica, CERV National Contact Point Slovenia)

The CERV Programme (Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values) is one of the EU’s key programmes in the area of democracy, fundamental rights and active citizenship, placing gender equality at its core through dedicated calls. The workshop is intended for all organisations – public or private – wishing to apply for CERV funding. Representatives of three national contact points (Croatia, Luxembourg and Slovenia) will present key steps in developing high-quality project proposals. Participants will learn how to shape ideas, partnerships, activities and budgets so that proposals match programme goals and evaluation criteria. Best practices will be analysed, and experiences exchanged to help turn early ideas into strong and feasible projects. As new CERV calls will be published in 2025, this workshop offers an excellent opportunity to gain the knowledge needed for successful applications.

 10:30–11:00 Coffee break

11:00–12:30 In-depth consultations for preparing successful project proposals for EU calls.

Participants will present their project drafts, ask specific questions and receive tailored feedback. The aim is for participants to leave with clearer project concepts and concrete guidance for developing competitive proposals for upcoming CERV calls.

11:00–12:30 Workshop: ONA Makes Rap (Tadeja Bučar Atkins – TADEJA_ba)
What do Visible and Heard sound like in rap? In this workshop, participants will create a group rap track – from finding rhymes and writing lyrics to recording vocals. This safe and creative space will invite participants to express experiences, pain, insights and views through rhythm and poetry. Just like taking a group photo, you can also make a group rap song. Why not?

11:00–12:30 Workshop: ONA Writes (Senja Požar) Writing is the magic between thoughts and words – an art of expression, understanding and self-discovery. This workshop explores three creative paths: literary, professional and promotional writing, and reveals how words inspire, explain and persuade. It also includes an insight into book promotion, selling translation rights and opportunities for international reach. The workshop is intended for anyone wishing to improve their writing – regardless of gender, experience or field.

12:30–13:00 Conclusions and workshop presentations

 13:00 Lunch

14:30–16:30 Feminist Walking Tour by Zavod Urbana Vrana with Jasmina Jerant – uncovering the hidden stories of women who shaped Ljubljana’s history: from early suffrage activists to artists, scientists and visionaries who left their mark on the public space.  Meeting point: Gornji trg 9, Ljubljana

The event is organised by ONA VE in cooperation with the European Commission Representation in Slovenia and PiNA Koper – Association for Youth Development, Social Innovation and Creativity, the national CERV contact point.
